Study Abroad - how-to-apply

Acceptance Process for High School Study Abroad

Once Intrax High School Study Abroad has received your complete application the application review and acceptance process begins. The process has three parts - an interview, Intrax Preliminary Acceptance and final acceptance from our overseas partner.

Interview for High School Study Abroad

Within a week to five weeks of receiving your complete application, we will call to arrange a phone interview. It will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete the interview. During the interview, Intrax will discuss your program and your interest in studying abroad. The interview is a great time to:

  • Ask any questions you might have about your summer, academic year or semester program
  • Begin thinking about how your exchange experience will affect you, your friends and your family

The interview will enable us to gain a better understanding of your personality, expectations and goals for your Study Abroad program.

Intrax Preliminary Acceptance for High School Study Abroad

After your phone interview, your application will be reviewed at our San Francisco Headquarters, and we will determine if you will receive Intrax Preliminary Acceptance. Typically you are notified of Intrax Preliminary Acceptance one to two weeks after your phone interview.

Final Acceptance from Our Overseas Partner to Study Abroad

Next Intrax will send your application to our overseas partner for review. Our partners reserve the right to make a final decision on acceptance for each student. It is rare for a student to receive Intrax Preliminary Acceptance and not receive Final Acceptance; however, please keep in mind that students are not fully enrolled into the program until after Final Acceptance.

Final Acceptance generally comes 2-5 weeks after we have received your complete application. At that time we will provide you with access to the student section of our website where you will find helpful pre-departure, in-country and post-program information.

If you are not accepted into the Study Abroad program for any reason your $600 enrollment deposit will be refunded. If you withdraw before Intrax Preliminary Acceptance, Intrax will keep a $100 processing fee and refund $500. Once you receive Intrax Preliminary Acceptance, your $600 enrollment fee becomes non-refundable. Please review our policies for more information.
