High School Summer Programs

AYUSA offers two exciting summer programs for high school students who want to explore the world on a 4 week summer abroad program!

High School Summer Cultural Exploration:

Attend language or cultural classes in the morning and enjoy organized activities in the afternoon; activities range from salsa dancing and cooking classes, to scenic bike rides. Live with a carefully selected host family. These four-week high school programs include:

  • Language or cultural classes five days per week
  • Homestay with a carefully selected local family or dormstay
  • Organized weekday activities (2 to 3 afternoons per week)
  • Included weekend excursions

Specific summer program highlights include:

  • Alajuela, Costa Rica - Exploring the rainforest and beaches of Manuel Antonio National Park
  • Oxford, England - Attending a theater performance in London
  • Amboise, France - Traveling to Paris for a three-day excursion which includes a tour of the Latin Quarter, the Musée D'Orsay, and Notre Dame
  • Cologne, Germany - Spending two nights in Berlin and visiting some of the city's most important sites including the Brandenburg Gate and the infamous Checkpoint Charlie
  • Florence, Italy - Discovering Rome during a two-day excursion which includes visits to sites such as Vatican City, the Colisseum, the Piazza Navona, Trinita dei Monti, Castel Sant'Angelo, and the museum of the Palazzo Borghese
  • Tokyo, Japan - Embrace the modern and traditional culture of Japan. Visit the cutting edge fashion district of Harajuku and the typical Japanese country town of Chichibu
  • Oaxaca, Mexico - Enjoying the beautiful beaches of Puerto Escondido during a 3-day trip
  • Granada, Spain - Exploring Madrid, the capital of Spain and the fascinating city of Toledo during the program finale

High School Summer Cultural Immersion:

Experience your host country's culture in a way that a typical tourist cannot! Live with a host family, take part in their daily activities and enjoy a summer study abroad to remember. No previous language experience is required. These four-week high school summer programs include:

  • Homestay with a carefully selected local family
  • Ability to immerse yourself in local language and culture

Summer Cultural Immersion programs are available in:

  • Brazil - Discover the warm family oriented culture of Brazil
  • France - Students may choose to be placed in the St. Malo, Arcahon or Brétigny areas
  • Japan - Attend a local Japanese high school
  • Spain - Students will be placed in the Madrid, Barcelona or Salamanca areas.
